Opportunity: Outreach Intern for globalFEST

The Outreach Intern will work closely with the General Manager/Producer and Administrator to re-imagine and execute the volunteer program for globalFEST’s 15th Anniversary flagship Festival on January 14th, 2018 (N. America’s most important world music event), as well as promote the festival and the artists involved to media and industry partners.

Sudan, Tunisia and Ethiopia came together on Sunday, August 20th at Rumsey Playfield for a globalFEST alum-stacked lineup at SummerStage featuring Alsarah and the Nubatones (gF 2017), Emel Mathlouthi (globalFEST 2015) and Mulatu Astatke.

Noura Mint Seymali

Skaramagas Camp in Athens: El Sistema in Greece

Debra Levine and I spent this morning visiting Skaramagas Camp in Athens, a refugee camp comprised of containers on the port, housing about 3,200 migrants, mostly Syrian, Afghani, Pakistani and Kurdish, about half of whom are children. Most of the camp are intact families.
